Summary Serum immunoglobulins (IgG, IgA and IgM) were measured in 15 non‐pregnant women, 51 normal pregnant women and 83 women with hypertension in pregnancy. In normal pregnant women the mean IgG level was lower than in non‐pregnant women. The mean IgM level rose in late pregnancy, though primigravidae had higher levels than multigravidae. The mean IgA level was increased in pregnant women aged over 25. In patients with hypertension the IgG levels were markedly reduced. The possible significance of these findings is discussed.
