Summary Although there is a significant correlation between the percentage of fetal cells as estimated by the Kleihauer technique and the amount of fetal haemoglobin in the same specimen, the variation is large. The information cannot be used for accurate prediction of the concentration of fetal haemoglobin or of gestational age.
