Summary The accuracy of ultrasonic cephalometry by the combined A and B scan method was assessed in 50‐second trimester fetuses which were delivered by hysterotomy. A good correlation was obtained between the antenatal ultrasonic and postnatal caliper measurement. It is concluded that the fetal biparietal diameter can be accurately measured from 13 weeks onwards.
