Summary In a prospective study 10 patients out of 104 from an endemic bilharzial country showed definite evidence of bilharziasis in the Fallopian tubes. Unless the inflammatory reaction is severe, the presence of the ova is of little or no significance, but if there is a severe fibrous or granulomatous reaction of the tubes to the ova ectopic pregnancy may ensue. No significant effect of bilharziasis on fertility was shown. S. haematobium is the commonest type of schistomsoma affecting the Fallopian tubes.
