and Gynaecologists (1929). Dr Fordyce gave freely of his services to the public. He was gynaecologist to Leith Hospital, physician to the Simpson Memorial Hospital and to the Hospital for Diseases of Women, and from 1921 to 1929 he had charge of gynaecological wards in the Royal Infirmary. He was a first-class diagnostician and a dexterous operator, qualities which gained for him a leading position in his speciality. Fordyce possessed an unusual gift for writing excellent verse, a collection of which was printed for private circulation some years ago, under the title The Old Sport and other Verses. These dealt with his favourite pastimes, angling, golf and curling and with humorous sketches of his friends. His talent was highly appreciated at social functions, and as Father Profundus he was for many years a Monk of St Giles.
