The paper reviews some of the technological developments which have been made possible through the application of automatic process control systems, in the domestic scene, as well as in transportation and communications. It seeks to identify the principal features of automatic process control and how they can affect production procedures in the dairying and food industries. It makes cautionary comments on the use of such systems in food products factories and ends on an optimistic note regarding their future use.
