The report that follows is essentially one man's view of the tour, and that of an agriculturalist rather than a dairy technologist. I have tried to convey something of the ‘feel’ of the tour as a whole, while on technical matters I have unashamedly ‘borrowed’ the views and assessments of more technical colleagues, whose brains I picked en route. I am particularly indebted to the President (Dr. J. Rothwell), Mr. J. Hope and Mr. C. R. Hurrell, who allowed me to use their notes to supplement my own. ( Author's note)
