This paper discusses resource allocation, and presents several theoretical models based on economic and managerial, gender role and ecological perspectives. Examples illustrating the approaches and resource allocation strategies are drawn from studies of the lives of Third World women. Challenges for public policy, research and development projects which focus on expanding managerial outcomes for women are suggested.
