In his Elements of Psychophysics , Fechner described an apparent relationship between HR and the accuracy of comparative weight judgments. A reexamination of Fechner's data confirmed the relationship between psychophysical sensitivity and the average of the daily HR taken before and after testing. He attributed the high HRs he found to a form of long lasting arousal caused by strenuous exercise.
