A simple circuit is described which produces “random” timed periods for the presentation of stimuli, etc., in psychophysiologic research. The circuit takes advantage of the basic irregularity in flash rate of inexpensive incandescent flasher lamps sold for use in Christmas lighting displays. Increased irregularity in timing is provided by charging a capacitor when flashes occur in two bulbs simultaneously. A 4‐layer diode and associated circuitry produce a contact closure output.
