SUMMARY Monozygotic twins with idiopathic external hydrocephalus are reported. Characteristic computerised tomographic features were associated with early gross motor delay and rapid improvement. A genetic basis for the syndrome is supported by its occurrence in identical twins. RÉSUMÉ Vrais jumeaux avec hydrocéphalic externe idiopathique L'article rapporte le cas de jumeaux monozygotes porteurs d'une hydrocéphalic externe idiopathique. Les données tomodensitométriques caractéristiques étaient associées a un retard du développement moteur global précoce et à un progrès rapide. L'origine génétique du syndrome est suggérée en l'occurence chez des vrais jumeaux. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG Eineiige Zwillinge mit idiopathischem externem Hydrocephalus Es werden eineiige Zwillinge mit idiopathischem externem Hydrocephalus vorgestellt. Es fanden sich die charakteristischen Merkmale im Komputertomogramm mit einer frühzeitigen Verzögerung der grobmotorischen Entwicklung und einer schnellen Besserung. Die Hypothese einer genetischen Ursache des Syndroms wird durch das Auftreten bei eineiigen Zwillingen gestützt. RESUMEN Gemelos idénticos con hidrocefalia externa idiopática Se aportan dos gemelos homozigotos con hidrocefalia externa idiopática. Las imágenes características de la TAC iban asociadas a un retraso motor grosero precoz y del movimiento rápido. Una posible base genética para el síndrome viene apoyada por su aparición en gemelos idénticos.
