POSTURE OF LOW‐RISK PRETERM INFANTS BETWEEN 32 AND 36 WEEKS POSTMENSTRUAL AGE

SUMMARY The supine posture of 15 low‐risk preterm infants was studied to establish whether they have a preferred posture and, if so, whether it changes with age. No over‐all preferred posture was found. Almost always one posture was adopted most frequently, but often a great variety of other postures were adopted almost as frequently. There was no correlation between postmenstrual age and preferred posture, the number of different postures, or the duration of longest uninterrupted posture. RÉSUMÉ Posture chez les prématurés à faible risque, de 32 à 36 semaines d'âge postmenstruel La position sur le dos de 20 prématurés à faible risque a étéétudiée pour savoir s'il y avait une posture préférentielle et en ce cas, s'il y avait des modifications avec l'âge. Presque toujours, une posture était adoptée plus fréjuemment, mais souvent une grande variété d'autres postures étaient adoptées presqu'aussi fréquemment. Il n'y avait pas de corrélation entre l'âge postmenstruel et une posture préférentielle, le nombre des postures difféientes ou la durée de la plus longue ininterrompue. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG Haltung von low‐risk Frühgeborenen mit einem Konzeptionsalter zwischen 32 und 36 Wochen Bei 15 low‐risk Frühgeborenen wurde die Haltung in Rückenlage untersucht, um festzustellen ob sie eine bevorzugte Haltung haben und wenn ja, ob diese sich mit dem Alter ándert. Es wurde keine allgemein bevorzugte Haltung gefunden. Fast immer wurde eine Haltung am häufigsten eingenommen, aber oft wurde eine große Anzahl anderer Haltungen fast ebenso häufig eingenommen. Es fand sich keine Korrelation zwischen Konzeptionsalter und bevorzugter Haltung, der Anzahl verschiedener Haltungen oder der Dauer einer am längsten beibehaltenen Haltung. RESUMEN Postura en lactantes pretermino de bajo riesgo entre las 32 y 36 semanas de edad concepcional Se estudió la postura en supino de 15 lactantes pretérmino de bajo riesgo para establacer si tenían una preferencia postural y en caso afirmativo si cambiaba con la edad. No se observó ninguna preferencia concreta. Casi siempre había una preferencia postural adoptada con mayor frecuencia, pero a menudo había un gran numero de posturas que tambien se adoptaban con igual frecuencia. No había ninguna correlación entre la edad concepcional y la postura preferida, el número de posturas diferentes o la duración de la postura mantenida durante más tiempo.
