SUMMARY Occasionally a brain abscess has been observed in a neonate. This report presents a unique case of a septic infant who developed a proteus mirabilis brain abscess shortly after birth, which persisted undetected until 2 1/2 months of age. RÉSUMÉ Abcès à proteus mirabilis chez un nouveau‐né Les auteurs rapportent le cas d'un nourrisson ayant présenté peu après la naissance un abcès du cerveau à proteus mirabilis, resté indétecté jusqu'à l'âge de deux ans et demi. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG Proteus mirabilis Abszess beim Neugeborenen Dieser Fallbericht beschreibt einen Säugling, der kurz nach der Geburt einen Proteus mirabilis Abszess entwickelte, der jedoch erst diagnostiziert wurde als das Kind 2 1/2 Monate alt war. RESUMEN Absceso por proteus mirabilis en el recién nacido Se describe el caso de un lactante que poco después del nacimiento, desarrollo un absceso cerebral por proteus mirabilis que permaneció sin ser detectado hasta la edad de dos meses y medio.
