SUMMARY Total ophthalmoplegia is described in an eight‐year‐old boy with polyradiculitis. The findings suggest central nervous system involvement. It is postulated that this case represents an entity intermediate between the Miller‐Fisher and the Landry‐Guillain‐Barré syndromes, with features of brain‐stem encephalitis. RÉSUMÉ Polyradiculite (syndrome de Landry‐Guillain‐Barré) avec ophtalmoplégie externe complète: encéphalo‐myélo‐radiculo‐neuropathie Une ophtalmoplégie totale est décrite chez un garçon de huit ans atteint de polyradiculite. Ces faits suggèrent une atteinte conjointe du système nerveux central. L'auteur pense que le cas représente une entité intermédiate entre le syndrome de Miller‐Fisher et celui de Landry‐Guillain‐Barré, avec atteinte encéphalitique du tronc cérébral. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG Polyradiculitis (Landry‐Guillain‐Barré Syndrom) mit völliger äußerer Ophthalmoplegie: Encephalo‐myelo‐radiculo‐Neuropathie Es wird eine totale Ophthalmoplegic bei einem acht jährigen Jungen mit Poliradiculitis beschrieben. Die Befunde lassen eine ZNS‐Beteiligung vermuten. Es wird gefordert, daß dieser Fall das zentrale Geschehen zwischen dem Miller‐Fisher Syndrom und dem Landry‐Guillain‐Barré Syndrom darstellt mit den Zeichen einer Hirnstammencephalitis. RESUMEN Polyradiculitis (sindrome de Landry‐Guillain‐Barré) con oftalmoplejia externa total: encefalo‐radiculo‐myelo‐neuropatia. Se describe una oftalmoplejia total en un muchacho de ocho años de edad con polirradiculitis. Los hallazgos sugieren una alteración del sistema nervioso central. Se postula queeste caso representa una entidad intermedia entre el síndrome de Fisher y el síndrome de Landry‐Guillain‐Barré, con signos de encefalitis del tronco cerebral.
