SUMMARY During standardisation of the Denver Developmental Screening Test on 668 Cardiff children in their first year, the effect of sex, social class and position in family on the age of achievement of the test item was studied. No conclusive differences were seen, and the implications of this are discussed. RÉSUMÉ Au cours de l'étalonnage du Denver Developmental Screening Test sur 668 nourrissons de Cardiff, durant leur première année, une étude a recherché les effets du sexe, de la classe sociale et de la position dans la famille sur l'âge auquel les items sont réussis. Aucune différence significative n'a été trouvée et les conséquences de ce fait sont discutées. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG Im Rahmen der Standardisierung des Denver Entwicklungstestes an 668 Säuglingen wurde eine Untersuchung gemacht über den Einfluß von Geschlecht, sozialer Klassenzugehörigkeit und Stellung in der Familie auf das Alter, in dem die Testaufgaben gelöst wurden. Es ergaben sich keine entscheidenden Unterschiede. Die entsprechenden Schlußfolgerungen werden diskutiert. RESUMEN Durante la estandardización del test del desarrollo de Denver, realizada en 668 nños de Cardiff en su primer año de vida, se realizó un estudio sobre los efectos del sexo, clase social y posición en la familia, sobre la edad en que se alcanzó cada ítem del test. No se encontró ninguna diferencia concluyente y se discuten las implicaciones de ello.
