SUMMARY A description is given of the inception and function of the Liverpool Congenital Abnormalities Registry. From January 1, 1960, this has recorded all malformations in live and stillborn babies born in the City of Liverpool and the adjoining County Borough of Bootle. The population and annual births represent about 2% of the total for England and Wales. RÉSUMÉ Le Registre d'Anomalies Congénitales de Liverpool On décrit la conception et le mode de fonctionnement du régistre d'anomalies congénitales de Liverpool. On y a inscrit depuis janvier 1960 toutes les malformations relevés sur des nourrissons vivants ou morts‐nés à Liverpool et dans le Comté environnant de Borough de Bootle. La population et les naissances annuelles reprksentent environs 2% de I'ensemble de l'Angleterre et du Pays de Galles. ZUSAMMENFASSUNG Die Registrierung deformiert geborener Kinder in Liverpool Einfuhrung und Zweck der Registrierung deformiert geborener Kinder in Liverpool werden beschrieben. Ab Januar 1960 wurde ein Verzeichnis zwecks Eintragung aller angeborenen Missbildungen, bei lebendig Geborenen und Totgeburten im Bereich der Stadt Liverpool und dem angrenzenden Bezirk Bootle, eingefiihrt. Einwohnerzahl und jahrliche Geburtsziffern dieser Gegend entsprechen etwa zwei Prozent der Gesamtzahlen fiir England und Wales.
