S ummary The GC/MS analysis of trimethylsilyl derivatives of extracts from the culture medium and from the mycelium of Ophrys lutea Cav., a mycorrhizal fungus grown in a liquid culture medium, revealed the ability of this fungus to synthesize indole‐3‐ethanol and indole‐3‐acetic acid. The identification of these compounds in the liquid medium and in the mycelial extracts suggested their transference from the fungus to the host during the establishment of mycorrhizas.
