S ummary From reviews of the anatomy and cell contents of grasses it would appear that crystals of calcium compounds do not occur. However, 13 scattered reports of such crystals in grasses have been discovered in the literature. As a result of observations made by the author, calcium oxalate crystals have been found in bundle sheath cells and adjacent mesophyll in leaves of Melinis minutiflora (Panicoideae).
