SUMMARY Interglacial deposits in a river channel‐fill sequence at Sugworth, Oxfordshire contain a rich flora indicating a late Cromerian (Cr IIIb) age. Analyses of pollen and macroscopic plant remains indicate uniform vegetational conditions throughout the period of deposition, with mixed deciduous‐coniferous woodland in the valley, and alder fen carr bordering the river. On the immediate floodplain and point bar the various wet areas supported several herb communities. New interglacial records for several plant taxa are discussed, in particular Cyperus michelianus and C. fuscus.
