SUMMARY The stages in the development of roots in stem cuttings of Hybrid larch have been investigated. Callus develops from a new meristem after the establishment of a cortical vascular system. Roots arise from near the tip of this cortical vascular system and emerge as partially differentiated structures after approximately 42 days.
