SUMMARY The germination of imbibed seeds of Arenaria serpyllifolia L., Veronica arvensis L. and Cerastium holosteoides Fr. is inhibited under two layers of Tilia × europaea L. leaves. The ecological significance of this phenomenon is discussed.
