S ummary A peat raft found in a sequence of glacial deposits at Hutton Henry, Co. Durham, is described. The peat contained quantities of Carpinus pollen and is therefore Jpswichian in age. From the position of the peat it is concluded that the Upper Till sheet of eastern Durham is of Weichselian age.
