S ummary Low concentrations of 2,3,5‐triiodobenzoic acid (TIBA) injected into Kalanchoe daigremontiana induced hyponasty while high concentrations induced epinasty. Changes in oxygen uptake preceded any visible morphological changes. Both hyponasty and oxygen uptake varied directly with the concentration of TIBA. Following injection very little lateral movement of TIBA occurred. Virtually all the TIBA initially moved directly up or down from the point of injection. This movement could be correlated with the vascular anatomy of K. daigremontiana . Explanations are advanced to account for the hyponasty, epinasty and oxygen uptake induced by TIBA.
