S ummary The diatom flora of a salt marsh at Neston, Cheshire, and its seasonal cycle has been investigated. The flora on the surface of sand, silted sand, a stream and in pans has been recorded. The differences in the flora of the habitats on the salt marsh and the variation in the flora from the upper to the lower marsh have been examined and the data as a whole compared with that of earlier workers.
