Sixteen metrical and 18 non‐metrical variants in aged Hooded seal skulls from Newfoundland, the Denmark Strait, and Jan Mayen were recorded. Relationships between the stocks were studied using univariate and multivariate techniques, after appropriate correction for age dependence of the metrical variants. No multivariate separation of the stocks was detected and it is concluded that there are little genetical differences between them. Therefore the null hypothesis that there is a high degree of intermixing between the stocks cannot be rejected.
