Bioluminescence in an evermannellid fish

Bioluminescence is reported from the evermannellid fish Coccorella atrata (Alcock). Light is emitted ventrally from three regions of the intestine and along the length of the pyloric caecum. The structure of the mucosal epithelium in these regions is described.
