SUMMARY A case is presented in which a multiplicity of factors, among them an XYY chromosome constitution, may have contributed to disturbed behaviour. These factors were inter‐related and included rate of growth, emotional immaturity, school difficulties and family illness. Social responses to the patient's appearance and behaviour made management difficult. This situation has responded in part to psychiatric and social intervention.
