SUMMARY Two cases of new‐born infants with severe multiple congenital anomalies of the ‘mid‐line’ type and a 4 p – deleted chromosome arc presented. Clinieal and other findings are compared with 8 published cases and with findings in Edwards' syndrome (18 trisomy), Patau's syndrome (13 trisomy) and cri du chat syndrome (5 p –). The identification of the deleted chromosome by autoradiography and measurements is discussed.
