Summary 1. A technique is described for transferring spread cells to electron‐microscope grids and for staining the chromosomes with uranium and lead. 2. The appearance of the chromosomes under the electron microscope, especially the acrocentrics, is described. Our thanks are due to Miss Mary Bogati for technical assistance in the culture work and to Miss Pamela Dyer for help with the electron microscope work. We are also grateful to Prof. L. S. Penrose and Dr J. R. Ellis for providing cells from the case of mongolism here described.
