The first of these articles, written in> 1960, surveys some of the earlier publications in English on the European Communities. It is here reprinted by kind permission of the Editor of Political Studies. The second deals with more recent puhlications up to June 1962. Completeness is unattainable in surveys of this kind, but a third article is planned to take in other publications ( particularly those of a primarily economic character ) up to the same date, and further surveys will then appear in each number to keep the record up to date. Books, pamphlets and other material for review are welcomed by the Editor at Nuffield College, Oxford .
