This article is an introspective account of a typical day in the life of an individual who has a severe learning disability, living in a residential complex in the West of Ireland. In addition to having a learning disability, Tom is also non‐ambulant and he currently lives in a bungalow in the grounds of a residential, village complex. The article is an attempt to describe a typical day in Tom's life from the vantage point of a service user.
