This paper highlights applications of the Life Experiences Checklist in the areas of service evaluation and quality assurance. Studies of community‐based and hospital services using the LEC are described, and implications for service planning summarised. The potential role of the LEC in procedures to identify service deficiencies is briefly illustrated.
