SUMMARY South Glamorgan Pre‐school Playgroups Association Referral Scheme was established to increase opportunities for community involvement for families of children with special needs following a two year feasibility study involving consultation with parents, the groups, and statutory and voluntary organisations. The Scheme provides information and support to families, and introductions to groups which it supports with volunteer helpers, advice, training, and equipment. By October 1984, 66 referrals had resulted in 22 places and another 21 families were receiving support.
