Summary It is frequently assumed that the best place to train parents how to teach their handicapped children is at home. There are, however, certain economic and organisational advantages in teaching the parents in a hospital/clinic base. In addition, training in such a setting may be more effective in helping the parents acquire a variety of skills and in encouraging them to use such skills independently.
