Adverse reactions to chemotherapeutic drugs are usually classified as cytotoxic reactions, hypersensitivity phenomena or reactions related to immunomodulatory drugs. We present a patient with patterned hyperpigmentation in both axillary regions after 5‐fluorouracil/carboplatin combination therapy. From the cutaneous aspect and the histological examination we suspect that this was caused by a toxic effect of the drugs excreted in the sweat. The occluding condition of the axillary region may have acted as aggravating factor.
