This article is based on research undertaken on behalf of the European Commission into the nature, extent and consequences of sexual harassment at work. It discusses the definition, occurrence and repercussions of sexual harassment and develops the argument for a European Directive on the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Work by considering the operation and limitations of existing legal provisions.
