This paper examines various chemicals used by agriculturalists and their effects on groundwater quality to determine whether land-use restrictions should be considered to limit pollution from percolating water. Several possible actions used to minimize damage to groundwater quality are noted. The paper concludes with a summary of federal and state legislative action directed toward protecting groundwater resources. 40 references, 1 figure
