Blackwell Publishing and Language Learning have a long‐standing reputation for publishing quality research. While we make every effort to publish original, error‐free articles, occasional faults are ineluctable. At the request of the second author, we have been asked to retract the article by Frank Morris and Elaine Tarone, published in volume 53:2, June 2003, pp. 325‐368 , on the basis of unsound data. Any error was inadvertent and unintentional on the part of the journal and the publisher. The article in question was titled "Impact of classroom dynamics on the effectiveness of recasts in SLA." We ask that our readers do not cite this article.
