This paper sets the scale of the Irish economic downturn since 2008 into perspective, looks at social policy developments over the decade of ‘pride and fall’ since 2000 and considers the implications for social policy of the adjustment to changed economic circumstances over the bailout period, with a particular focus on disability services.
