textabstractThis dossier deals with the impact of economicglobalisation on workers, especially in developingnations: their employment opportunities, wage income, job security and other aspects ofdecent work (ILO 1999, 2002). This is a highlyrelevant theme. Not only do workers in the EU,the United States and other prosperous partsof the world fear the low wages in Asian andEastern European economies, but workers indeveloping and transition countries also fearlosing their jobs and incomes as a result ofneo-liberal policies increasing the exposure ofdomestic firms to the competitive strength andpower of EU, US or ASEAN based multinationals. The main question for this dossier is thereforewhether economic globalisation can work outpositively for workers, especially in developing nations.
