Previously, the Sherborne Developmental Movement (SDM) has been found to contribute to the development of emotional competencies in higher education. This study presents and evaluates a teaching model based on SDM for the development of emotional competencies in teacher education. The study examined the contributions of this model to the increase of emotional competencies in 67 future educators. Measurements included reflective diaries, questionnaires, a final project and emotional intelligence and empathy scales. Findings indicated that SDM activities integrated into a teaching model created social interactions that evoked emotional understanding of self and others, improving emotional competencies.
