Ralph Callow has worked for many years with exceptionally able pupils. He describes the two recommended approaches for dealing with the challenges posed by such pupils: enrichment and acceleration. He also gives us a fascinating insight into the progress of ‘Simon’, a child of outstanding ability. It is a compliment to the profession that Simon's needs were recognised and to a local authority that quickly set about addressing them.
