The concept of individual educational programmes (IEPs) is not new but rarely is it spelt out with much clarity. Here Norman Butt and Elizabeth Scott take us through the rationale for IEPs, their management and evaluation. This is an important contribution in this field and will be of use to those now engaged in drawing up whole‐school policies and development plans.
