Often educational advances are the result of a fortunate happenstance. The authors of this article evolved the Say‐That‐Again technique as a chance interaction with a modern languages department who were using a digitised speech system. From this Christine Hartas and David Moseley have developed a sophisticated programme for boosting reading skills. Their initial findings are sufficiently encouraging to warrant further investigation.
