Summary Too often an analysis of variance is simply completed by afinal F‐test. Although most textbooks do not give sofar the full range of decision procedures that have been presented, practice has reached the point that a greater variation of techniques for formulating conclusions is asked for. No such procedure should be considered loose from its power (in a wider sense), it being expressed as an operations characteristic or in some other way. This paper discusses in a schematic way some decision procedures and gives references for details.
