Summary Business comparison as an efficiency measure. The statistical comparisons of the various degrees of productivity are made in such a way that the differences stated between the participating enterprises are to be attributed to the differing efficiency of the internal organization of those enterprises. On the one hand those differences are expressed by means of a comparison of ratios per section of the enterprises, such as manhours, or machine hours per unit of product, on the other hands by means of establishing the relationship between the level of a particular sort of costs and the various factors influencing the extent of those costs.
