Kielgast, Knud. Piaget's concept of egocentrism: A reevaluation. Scand. J. Psychol. , 1971, 12, 179–191. – It was found that the so‐called egocentric reaction of identifying one's own perspective with the imagined perspective of some object seen from a different point of view could not be attributed to a fixation to one's own perspective but rather to a deficient perceptual differentiation between the visual world and the visual field. A comparison of verbal and non‐verbal solutions was found to point to a near relationship between perception and imagination in this specific task.
