B lendstrup , U. and N ielsen , G. S. Transcendence in the TAT. Scand. J. Psychol ., 1961, 2, 105–112.—TAT stories were tape recorded and transcribed. The protocols were divided into units. The content of each unit was placed on one of four levels of transcendence: the situational level, the descriptive level, the story level, and the level of extreme fantasy. Profiles were drawn to illustrate how the subject fluctuates from one level to another during the test. The scoring method is highly reliable.
