This issue coincides with a significant milestone in the life of the journal: the 25th anniversary of the journal. Between 1993 and 2005 the journal was published bimonthly. Since 2006 the journal has been published eight times per year. The primary focus of the journal remains innovative computational modeling with the goal of encouraging exploration of new and emerging computing paradigms and information technologies. The journal is known for its rigorous review process. Each manuscript is normally reviewed by five reviewers as explained in my Editorial published in issue 21:1, January 2006. About 15% of the submissions are rejected by myself based on a preliminary evaluation without sending them out to multiple reviewers for a full review. The rate of acceptance of papers submitted to the journal remains around 35%. The journal reviewers are selected among the members of the Editorial and Industrial Advisory Boards and over 850 other researchers from throughout the world. Five hundred and eighteen (518) were acknowledged in issue 21:1, January 2006. Many of these reviewers have agreed to review manuscripts for the journal in advance by filing a Conscientious Reviewer form as noted in my Editorial published in issue 17:1, January 2002. The conscientious reviewers along with journal contributors and members of the Editorial and Industrial Advisory Boards of the journal makeup the Society of CACAIE. If you would like to be included in the roster of Conscientious Reviewers and join the Society of CACAIE please let me know. We continue to publish five different types of articles: (1) major original contribution, (2) short original contribution, (3) state-of-the-art review article, (4) innovative application of computers in education, and (5) novel and significant industrial application. Creativity and originality are the primary criteria for publication. Authors are requested to submit a statement that this manuscript is their “original unpublished work and the manuscript or any variation of it has not been submitted to another publication previously.” Justification for this is explained in an editorial titled On Principles of Scholarly Research Contributions: How to Avoid Multiple Rounds of Reviews published in issue 23:1, January 2008. Potential authors are encouraged to read it before submission. They must also submit the Conscientious Reviewer form along with their paper (except students). The form is available on the journal web site. A feature of the journal is publication of special and focus/theme issues. The following special/focus issues have been published in the journal since 2001 (they will give a flavor of what was published in the journal in recent years):
