This paper provides summary descriptions of computer‐based technologies that will increasingly affect the execution and efficacy of construction projects. The role these technologies will play is described for each of five project phases: conceptual planning, design and procurement, construction, startup, and operations and maintenance. Implications for the work force brought about by increasing reliance on computer technology are discussed.
